Joy
Somewhere in some reading of one of the one thousand books
I’ve read (or was supposed to read) during this semester, there was a
suggestion to take one of each of the gifts of the Spirit and focus on that
gift for a day.
Today the word is joy.
My favorite definition of the definitions I looked up was
from Dictionary.com
Joy is “the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something
exceptionally good or satisfying; keen pleasure; elation.”
The
part that stood out was joy is “caused by something exceptionally good or
satisfying.”
What
is something exceptionally good?
What
is something satisfying?
With
those words, a hundred images start flooding my brain.
There
are so many exceptionally good and satisfying things in this world!
Just
take joy, for example. The fact that we are capable of even feeling “great
delight or happiness” or “keen pleasure” or “elation” is a reason to have joy.
I
love joy.
It’s
one of my favorites.
And
it’s a fruit of having the Holy Spirit living within us. We can have the joy,
joy, joy, down in our hearts (or exploding from our eyeballs) because we have
the Holy Spirit.
Joy
rocks.
I’ll
be praying that the joy down in your heart will come bubbling up like crazy.
Serious. I’m actually praying that right now.
Get
yerself some joy.
